What is a work order?

Go to Operations, then Work Orders, in Nassima to create and manage them — for field jobs and in-shop work alike.

A work order is the container for a piece of service work. It's different from a job: the work order holds one or more jobs, links to the customer, and tracks the whole thing from intake to close. See Create a job for what happens inside each individual job — the services performed, parts used, and staff assigned to that piece of work.

You can open one yourself from the Work Orders section. A work order is also created automatically the moment a booking comes in, and Nassima's AI can open one itself as part of working a request — that's currently a staff-side capability, not yet something a customer can trigger simply by messaging your business.

Once it exists, assign it to a technician yourself, or leave it in the shared queue for staff to claim.

Each work order follows a workflow you configure for your own business, with its own steps and status transitions. Nassima keeps a version history of that configuration too, so you can restore an earlier version if a change doesn't work out.

A work order can also carry:

• Quotes
• Inspections
• Documents and attachments
• Guest customer information, for work that starts before a full customer record exists

Everything stays attached to the same work order, so whoever opens it sees the full picture instead of piecing it together from separate screens.

Customers can see their own work orders too, from the customer portal.

When the work is done, it becomes an invoice — see Create invoices from work orders for how that conversion works.

One work order, one customer, everything attached — nobody has to reconstruct what happened after the fact.
